Michelle Hiscock: Landscape & Memory
Landscape and Memory emerges from Michelle Hiscock's significant project to breathe new life into traditional approaches to landscape painting. The sepia wash drawings featured in the book, reminiscent of the 17th-century landscape masters she admires, were created over the last two decades and include landscapes made in France on the WW2 battlefields of the Western Front, and her habitual sketching grounds in Tasmania and the Sydney region.
Landscape and Memory also includes an introductory essay explaining the rationale behind the technical and aesthetic evolution of the artist's approach to landscape drawing and a comprehensive summary of her exhibition history to date.
